12/7: Wheatland Spring's Later Flowers

12/7: Wheatland Spring's Later Flowers

I needed a night off last night, but I’m happy to return to yesterday’s beer today. A dark lager sounds delicious after a number of very big and flavorful beers. (Please let there not be two NEIPAs per week in the weeks to come. I am beyond over those hazy juice bombs, man.)

Appearance: Amber with ruby highlights and a lacy head.

Aroma: Delicious. Toasty, clean. No esters or phenols, just malt all the way.

Taste: Mild bitterness. Again, clean.

Mouthfeel: Just the right carbonation. Zips that beer off your tongue to get you ready for another sip. Again, a lovely palate cleanser: this time, literally.

Might just be worth a visit out to Wheatland Spring Farm & Brewery, our neighbors just over in Waterford, Virginia. The can notes that this lager is brewed with water from the farm’s spring and malts from the estate itself, as well as two nearby craft maltsters. And how cool is this mission?

Family owned and operated, we work our 30 acre farm to grow grains, herbs, produce, capture native yeast, use our well water, and host honey bee hives for the sole purpose of offering the highest quality beer we’re capable of making.
