About the Author, Caroline Miller

I geek out about two things: books and beer.

I studied English and Creative Writing at Princeton and completed my PhD in English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan. After teaching full-time at the University of Michigan, I moved to teaching at private high-schools, currently at one in Washington, D.C.

I’m a Certified Cicerone®. You can read all about that journey in this series. If I decide to study for my Advanced Cicerone, you’ll read all about that here, too. But not for a while.

I've lived in Paris, Brooklyn, Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Columbus, and now DC - all very different beer scenes. I love how localized beer culture is. Although it may be a shame that we can't get all the beer we want from far-flung states and countries, that also makes craft beer a network of smaller communities, which feels cozy and familial.
